It’s come to that time of year again were we all look to go on a holiday. This year, like last, it was to be just myself and my boyfriend who would be travelling away on a week in the sun.
On June 11th I went on my annual holiday. This year we had chosen Menorca, not because we were dying to go there but just because it was cheap. Of course we had to go for all-inclusive for a week because who wouldn’t?
After looking on various websites for the cheapest deal, we decided to go with Thomas Cook for a week in Arenal d’en Castell, Menorca. The process of actually booking the holiday was very straight forward and easy to do which was a great help! Moving on to the flights and the accommodation itself was also equally as great. We stayed at Club Aguamarina which was fabulous. One thing that we were really hoping for was decent air conditioning and boy did that have it.
The food was varied every day and there was always something there for everyone. Unfortunately I can’t comment on the breakfast as we never got up early enough for this, but we were on holiday so we are meant to relax and stay in bed longer in the morning… right? The room was cleaned everyday, as well as the communal areas also being clean constantly. The staff were lovely and very helpful.
We went down to the beach pretty much every day as it was so close! less than a 5 minute walk… although this was downhill so walking back wasn’t as much fun but gave us a little bit of exercise which never does anyone any harm. Each time we hired two sunbeds and a parasol which was fixed in place in rows. This cost us €15 each time, but to us it was well worth it as it was a lot quieter during our time there, although I would imagine that it would get busier as the summer months continued.
In terms of where the accommodation was there wasn’t much near it. A short walk away was a near village, as well as a centre that had some souvenir shops, pubs, and some attractions such as crazy golf, trampolines and bouncy castles at the cost of a few euros at most. There was a bus stop just outside of the accommodation which would take you to the capital of Menorca, Mahon. Myself and my boyfriend never made this trip as we were more than happy to stay around the resort and beach, but this would have been an inexpensive day out if you wanted to get out and explore more.
Perfect holiday destination for families and couples who don’t mind lazying about and eating/drinking as much as they wish.
