I had seen many different tutorials on youtube on how to achieve a cut-crease when doing eyeshadow which all looked very daunting! So naturally I decided to just go for it and see if I was capable of doing a cut-crease and to find out if it was even as hard as it looked….
I started but drawing a thin line where my crease would normally be and then blended it up to create that cut crease. I went over it again and again to deepen up the crease and give it more dimension (as this was what the youtube tutorials told me to do). I decided to use brown shades which were matte and neutral to create the cut crease, and deepened it up further with a small amount of black eye shadow.
After I was satisfied with the cut-crease and how it had blended out, I decided to try out yet another youtube trick… I used concealer to cover my eye lids and up to the line where I had created the cut-crease to clean it up and make it sharper. I decided to use a foiled eye shadow and so placed the primer onto my eyelids as instructed by the packaging, before packing this onto my lid on the area where I had placed the concealer and primer.
I then finished the rest of my makeup as I usually would, before adding eyeliner to my water line and tight line, as well as creating a winged liner using the L’Oréal precise liquid liner. I paired this with a fairly neutral and nude lip as I wanted the focus to be on the eyes.
Although I believe this could have come out a lot better, I still think that for a first attempt it turned out pretty well. As always practice makes perfect so I will continue to try and achieve this and hopefully will be able to get it spot on! I hope I have inspired some of you to try doing a cut-crease as it really is not as hard as it looks so don’t be daunted or put off by watching youtube tuturials… Just give it a go!
